Dave "Doug" Sutheran - AKA "DJS" - musician and songwriter

Welcome to the DJS music website. If you are a newcomer to me, then perhaps I should tell you a little about myself. I have been in and around the music scene (on and off) in my native town of Birmingham for about 30+ years. I started out as a drummer and have progressed through various musical line-ups and journeys over the years (check out the HISTORY link for a more thorough run-down).

This site is intended to showcase the music and projects that I am currently involved with, but there will also be information on material that I and others are rediscovering from the past 20 years or so. Those who may know me might well be asking "Where the hell has he been?!!!!!!!". The answer is …. well I don’t really know! Well, I mean I know where I’ve physically been and to some degree where I’ve spiritually been but not where I’ve musically been!!! You might even wonder why I’ve been away from music for so long and why I have now decided to create music once again, so I will attempt to explain.

Over recent years I have pretty much stayed out of music (since the break up of the Underdogs in 1999/2000). However a couple of years ago I finally decided to join the 21st century and buy my own PC. Then I discovered music software (oh such joys!!!) and was inspired to pick up instruments again and get back into song writing. I guess the real truth is that if it’s in your blood you never can truly ever escape it!!! I have spent some money and invested in some new kit, instrumentation and recording, and settled into writing some new material as well as reworking some of the old. I have found myself exploring and experimenting with different soundscapes and genres and I am (I’m very pleased to say) learning all of the time and look forward very much to learning and progressing in the future.
So please feel free to join me on this musical journey of discovery!!!!!
